This makes the reappearance of German producer Ian Pooley all the more interesting. Is he still relevant or does his new work sound out of date? The answer is a resounding ‘yes’ in favour of Pooley. “April 09” sees him dish out a tough techno banger; the percussion has all the impact of a nail bomb ripping through flesh and the filters churn grimly. “Damage” is just as relentless, with a rumbling bass and rattling hats to the fore.
